SCSR - Meet and Greet
I brought Sammy to the Second Chance Sato Rescue Meet and Greet at the Agway in Milford, NH. Sammy gets car sick on long car rides so it was a bit of a challenge getting there, but once there she was the star of the day. Everyone loves this dog. There are a couple of families interested in adopting her and I am going to have a hard time letting her go. I may have to adopt her myself!
It was a great event for SCSR, several adoption applications are filled out on site. This is a great group of dogs and it won’t be long until they are all find permanent homes. There are a few more pictures on Flickr. The dogs were pretty active so it was hard to get good pictures, but be sure to check out this picture of North… don’t you want to take him home?

Meet Sammy…

On Monday evening I picked up my first “foster dog”. Her given name is Samantha, but I have been calling her Sammy or Sam and she seems to be responding. Sammy is a “Sato” rescued from Puerto Rico by Second Chance Sato Rescue (SCSR) in Temple, NH. Sammy is one of six adorable dogs SCSR currently has available for adoption in New Hampshire.
Sammy is doing great. A little timid in new situations, but she has a wonderfully sweet disposition and is very well behaved. She was fearful of Mojo when they first met but it didn’t take long for them to warm up to each other. She even tolerates the fact that Mojo thinks Sam’s wagging tail is his new toy. We are working on “sit’ and “come” and she seems eager to please.
I love this dog!

Seacoast Guitar Society - Aine Minogue
On Sunday, The Seacoast Guitar Society presented our first concert at the Remick Barn in Old York Village, Maine. Harp player, Aine Minogue, played to a packed house. The event was a sell out with about 70 folks attending plus a few volunteers.

Aine was absolutely wonderful. Her music, voice and story telling had us all mesmerized. Special thanks to Scott and Zoey of the Old York Historical Society for helping to make this happen. And of course Mark AKA Wolf Garcia was there to run sound. Thanks to Hope and Steve for the delicious chowder and selling cds and raffle tickets. I did my usual ticket sale and Harvey made the whole thing happen and opened the show with a couple of tunes on guitar (we are a guitar society you know).
The SGS is looking forward to presenting more concerts here. Next on our calendar is Michael Jerome Browne on June 8th. We can’t wait!!

Wooden Eye
I caught the debut of a hot new Seacoast area band - Wooden Eye - at the Press Room last night. Wooden Eye consists of Mike Rogers (Roundhouse) and his son Joe Rogers (Roundhouse, The Joyce Andersen Band) with Bob Halperin and Dan MacLellan. I’m looking forward to hearing more from these guys and rumor has it there is a Wooden Eye cd in the works! Joe has a few tunes posted on his myspace page. Check it out!
I’ve got a few more pictures of the evening up on Flickr.

Mississippi You’re On My Mind….
I have been home for nearly a week and just now I am finally getting all my photos organized and online. You can see all of my photo’s on my Flickr Page.

I must say that it really was a treat to see the Carroll County Market in person. I have been hearing about and reading about it and updating the website for over a year now, but there is nothing like experiencing it for myself. The food is wonderful, truly the best pulled pork, ribs and steaks you’ve ever had and an incredibly warm and friendly staff. Special thanks to Cecil (folks in Carrollton call him “Tot”) and Hank, Glenda and Sterling, Greg and Heather and the rest of the CCM Crew for making me feel so welcome.
Friday night was a blast! A sold out show featuring Wayne “The Train” Hancock and a surprise birthday party for Greg Harkins. Wayne put on a great show and we all know now why he is called “The Train”… there is no stopping him.
After a very late night on Friday, it was great to just hang out with Cecil’s friends on Saturday afternoon in Carrollton. Greg fixed us a special breakfast including real homemade biscuits. We spent hours lounging on the porch. I think I was even able to sneak in a nap.

Other highlights from the trip were visiting the Mississippi John Hurt Museum and grave site, a brief tour of Clarksdale with stops at the Crossroads and Shack Up Inn.

Cecil was an excellent tour guide. We took a little road trip on Monday drove from Carrollton to Natchez with stops in a cane field and a crazy roadside church and Vicksburg. I enjoyed walking around Vicksburg where we stopped at funky art store and lunch at Borello’s. I highly recommend the steak bites appetizer!
On Tuesday, we took a scenic drive along the Natchez Trace with a stop at Rocky Springs. We took the Trace back to Jackson where I caught my plane and headed home.
A very enjoyable trip indeed! Thanks again Cecil! Perhaps I should rename this post … Mr Sippy You’re On My Mind.
Don’t forget if you want to see more … all my pictures are here.

Launching My Blog
I’ve been playing with Wordpress a little bit lately and recently set up blogs for friends and one for Beyond Indigo so I thought it was time or should I say way past time, for me to set up my own blog. I’ll keep it posted with where I am and what I’m doing.
I’m customizing the Nightlife theme by Performancing. The header image is mine, taken in Natchez, MS. More on my recent trip to Mississippi in my next post.
Stay tuned…
